Our 2009 Autumn Show held on 5th September
was a great success. Below the Show Secretary's report you can see some of the exhibits in the horticultural,
domestic and childrens' classes. Click on each
picture to enlarge the image. On Saturday 5 September and thankfully
on a day with dry weather, there was an excellent visitor attendance for Ickenham & Swakeleys last show of 2009.
They were greeted with a fine display of large pot plants, autumn flowers, bulbs and vases of shrubs, as well some
quality vegetables, fruit, cooked exhibits and an excellent number of wine entries. The junior classes were very well supported, in part due to a new gardening initiative
between the Society and Glebe Junior School. In these under-16’s sections there were also some interesting
displays among the junior cookery entries. One other notable feature
was a special non-competitive display of produce from the young growers of the Glebe Junior School – there was some
really good quality here and they really look like future trophy winners!
